I need to get this straight. I found the VATS wires from the steering column (Purple and white, wrapped in Orange) Do I solder the resistor unto the wires like this: Wires soldered together and then soldered on either side of the resistor, example > Res < ? Or is there another (better) way? Thanks for any help.

 

if your getting rid of the pass all together then you need to completely cut the wires and solder the wires to the resistor. One wire per side of the resistor and tape it up. easy

 

Ok, So, basiclly, cut out the steering column all together and take the Purple and White wires coming from the VATS and solder one wire to each side of the resistor? Like so, Purple--l

Sounds like you got it. Al you are doing is using the resistor to simulate what the key cylinder reads when you stick the key in.

Oh, and tell us where you frequently park your car in case one of us wants to go for a joyride.

 

why do you think Im helping him? car installers know it all! its better than that try one, if not right wait 10-15 minutes and try another and maybe having to repeat 14 times! Ive had to do that at the dealership when somebody lost all their keys.
