quick question

I'm changing my rear gear lube nad have a question. It looks like the magnet was held on the cover with an adhesive. Is this necessary. If it is what do you use, RTV?

Anybody? I've got to get this thing put back together before people start coming home. I don't remember using an adhesive when I did my transmission but my brother helped me with that and he might have done it. The magnet in the transmission is on the bottom also.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't trust that to RTV, something more permanent would be better. I don't remember seeing a magnet come off. I would be a little aprehensive about anything glued in there, in fear of it coming off.
