Quick Intake Manifold Question

I purchased a new painted and ported Intake manifold on the bottom theres hex head plugs that need to be installed, does anyone know what they should be torqued to? I want to make sure there nice and tight so they don't leak or fall out after installed. Thanks

Re: Quick Intake Manifold Question

I'd say 20 ft. lbs. would be plenty. There should be a heat shield over those hex plugs, so even if they DID fall out, they would be contained. The plugs block off internal EGR passages.

Takes more than 20ft lbs to get them out..... they are a tappered thread I think so just tighten them down hard.

What are you thinking.... Hand tight with a 3/8 rachet or should i use a impact? Also should it go down flush or should i still be able to see threads on the plugs? Im also worried about potentialy cracking the intake.

Re: Quick Intake Manifold Question

Just crank them down good with a ratched. I don't mean to twist them to within an inch of their lives, I mean just crank them down to where it feels "right".
And if it were me, I'd use anti-seize. Lightly.

Re: Quick Intake Manifold Question

Just screw them down tight by hand with the allen wrench. If you're worried about them rattling loose, use some non-hardening sealer on the threads. They're not that of a big deal.
