Quick help please - eagle keyed crank with stock hub?
Quick help please - eagle keyed crank with stock hub?
Ok, I have an eagle crank that has a straight key on the snout. It seems to be in two pieces, on on the edge of the crank snout and one farther back in to the timing cover in the same groove. I cannot tell if it is a single piece with a gap or two keys in the same slot.
I bought an ASP dampner and I have the stock hub. I was told by my engine builder to just remove the crank key and use the stock hub. Well I can't seem to get the key out and I was wondering if I should just buy a keyed hub and if that would fix all my problems and be safer at the same time.
Please let me know if I should remove the key (and how to remove it) or if I should buy a keyed hub and if that would work flawlessly.

You could remove the woodruff if you wanted by putting a punch on the front or the back of the woodruff and just tap the punch with a hammer to remove it. Basically just make it rotate end for end.
I would just take the existing hub to a machine shop and have them cut a keyway into it or buy one from thunder racing that already has a keyway cut in it.
The woodruff and keyway are a must for supercharger application.

How that effect the balance of the engine?
I noticed the ASP damper (which is suposed to be neutral balanced) has two drill holes in one end of it.
Also it looks like the stock hub also has a couple drill holes. Will having the stock hub keyed effect the balance??
