quick help: dropping oil pan
ive said my fair share already with that oil panYour sig says AI cam coming soon...if you are doing the cam, its a good idea to drop the pan for that because of the front timing cover, so you could have just waited to do it all at once
Getting the front cover back on without at least lowering the front of the pan is a real pain...then getting it to seal back up without leaks is near impossible.

Yep, the lower ridge of the timing cover is the groove the oil pan seal fits in. The timing cover has to be installed straight onto the front of the motor due to the positioning pins (or whatever they are called) that stick out, so the front cover can't be pushed against the block and slid down into position onto the seal.....therfore the oil pan must be dropped slightly to get the seal in....and of course lowering the oil pan will almost certainly allow oil to get on the gasket surfaces causing it not to seal up properly.
Some have had luck at gobbing the front seal and gasket with Ultra-Black or the RIght-Stuff sealant to seal it up, but it makes it messy to remove in the future.

go back to rotating the engine. I believe you need to have it at 6oclock or else itll never come out.. the front counter weights are what keeps it from coming out. Ive had to drop mine twice and it about fell out once you put the engine in the right position.
mine doesnt seem that way at all... its hitting the bellhousing. I'll give it another shot though.
nope i havent touched the car since the night i made this thread actually. Been working a lot lately. I have a 3 day weekend coming up so i am going to hit it hard friday and saturday. Still debating if i want to drop the k-member entirely or not.
