Quick Alternator Question

Installed a 10" sub in the back this weekend, and a 600W amp pushing it. I noticed that my volt gauge on the dash was almost kissing the red, so I hooked the meter up to it, and it's 12.6 with the car off, 12.6 with it on. I am also running March underdrive pulleys, but I've had these on the car for 7 years and never had a problem with it charging.

The alternator that's on the car is as old as the car, I believe, and I guess this is the straw that broke the camel's back. I noticed there are 124 and 140 amp, and the one on my car looked like the pic on of the 140 amp on acdelco.com.

So, does my car take the 140 amp or 124 amp?

94 LT1 M6 car.

If it's the stock one it is probably a 140. You can buy larger ones if you want. I have a chrome 200 amp one on mine. I also have a stock 140 that has 0 miles on it and has a polished pulley if you're interested.

Where did you pick up the 200 amp one from?

I was just trying to find the name. I picked it up from a vendor at the Super Chevy show in Gainesville last fall.
