Questions for the guys with AS&M headers....

I am putting my RK-sport headers on which are nearly the same as AS&M headers.

How much clearance do you guys have between the #8 primary and the plastic HVAC airbox?
It looks like I have just over 1/4" or so and I am hoping to not melt any plastic.

Also does you #1 slip fit primary make contact with the sheet metal heat shield on the driver side. I am going to modify it tonight.

Lastly how much clearance do you have between the passenger header collector and the K-member, mine was very close so I did a litlle clearancing with the grinder.

These headers definitely require some tweaking but now fit very well.
Thanks

I doubt that you will have any problems if you have 1/4+ room. For insurance you can always insulate the box, but whatever you use it CANNOT touch the headers because even fire resistant sleeves are not impervious to getting burned if they are "touching" the primaries.JMHO

yeah, I burned a wire, those headers blow for plug wires. you cant do otvc, and you have to wire tie the crap out of them below, otherwise the headers will eat them. My #1 primary hit the sheet metal, I moved the brake line behind it up about 2 inches, then pushed the sheet metal all the way to the body. Worked for me. By the way, I have RKsport headers, same exact thing only cheaper price. :-)

I have my OVC plug wires away from the headers except for #6. I am having a straight boot wire custom made that will fix the problem. The only remaining issue is how close the #8 primary is to the HVAC box.

well, mine is close, and after three years still no issues. I drive this in 100+ degree weather all day long, still no issues. So, I can't say you won't have issues, but I never have. does this help?
