Unhappy Questions froma poor man.....

Hey guys,

I am cash strapped and looking for help. I realize we cant diagnose my car over the web but maybe you can give me some direction.

I took my car in for a brake inspection since the other day both the brake and ABS INOP light came on and wouldnt go away. Brakes felt fine. Well my brakes are fine and the sensors appear to be fine also. While on the lift the mechanic noticed the my right axle tube is leaking where it connects to the diff. Looked bad but most be a slow leak as the diff fluid level was fine. Has anyone had this problem??? The mechanic suggested having a weld laid down around it as it is not bent or anything. He said 12 bolts are welded at the axle normally?

He ran Diagnostics for codes and there were pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He said he had never even seen half the codes before and that it must be an electrical issue? What do you think????

Some of them were:
Left motor circuit short
Right motor circuit short
Excessive acceleration
ABS related
and on and on

What the hell is excessive acceleration???? (As far as a code)

I am completely cash strapped right now as they are liquidating my store and I will hav to move with my final pay check. I cant afford to fix the axle but is it safe to drive on in your opinions???

As far as the car it runs good besides an occassional surge at idle.

Need Opinions

Shawn

i dont see how there were pages of codes... there really arent THAT many and if you had all of them i dont see how it would make up a whole page... hes gotta be lying.

have you looked at the 3rd brake light to see if its working? also check the electrical plugs around that brake junction( i dunno what else to call it) it has a bunch of hard lines running to it and is located right near the air filter box or CAI. i somehow unplugged one when i did headers and got ABS light.. and no ABS.

For your ABS light, check and clean all the connections on the battery. Also check and clean all of the connections from the battery to the little red box on top of the passenger side fender well. I had the same light and cleaned and tightened all of the connections I mentioned above, haven't had a problem since.

i was getting the same abs ligt every so often. and it also said something about left and right motors being wack or something like that. ended up being an abs code A094 or maybe it was A024, anyways, it was my brake switch that is under the driver side hush panel. if you give us the actual codes numbers, if you happen to have them, then maybe we can help you a little easier.

There were pages.... But the machine he has displays maybe 4 or 5 codes at a time. I actually was right there watching. He's a very cool guy and Camaro afficianado. He was even like WTF? on some of the codes. I looked at some of them but didnt pay much attention since he said there were so many. I saw him scroll through a couple pages. I believe I saw a code 63 and a code 64??? But I wasnt looking at code numbers. I actually read the code that came up with the description of excessive acceleration???????? I thought maybe that was a dealer installed safeguard to see if someone is flogging their car for warranty purposes, as I dont know that much about the electrical side of things.

I wish this were all a sick joke but alas it is not.

Any comments on the leaking axle tube ???

code 64 would ba a right bank lean O2. and a code 63 is a O2 sensor open cicuit. if that helps any. good luck.

It's not uncommon to see "seepage" where the axle tubes fit into the pumpkin.

This looked more like choclate frosting slathered on than light seepage.. It was all bubbly probably due to heat.

I am wondering since someone metioned battery connections, if this all is just because of that. I turned my car on like 2 weeks ago and put it in reverse. The car shut off and all lights died and then started back up????? I had my battery checked and it was at a little lower voltage than recommended.. I have had problems with it off and on so maybe it is causing some of my headaches.

computers need exacting voltages, and if you were running on less that 12 or more than 14-4, you may have problems like this, and the memory will store the codes until you erase the proms. as for the number of codes, there are an insane amount of codes, and that is just for the chassis(sensors and connectors) not to mention programming problems and the other problems.

id suggest getting the battery and alternator checked, then if the problem persists, either reprogram your pc(pcm for less), or just replace it. my friends probe was doing some funky stuff like speedo was off, and steering was off. why? i cant figure it out, but the suspension was all out of whack, when the pc was replaced, everything was normal

So I take it that the axle is an issue but not a major one? I mean it is a slow leak. I am gonna try and pick up a new battery and then have it rescanned and see if it still shows a bunch of codes.

"Excessive Acceleration" might be what is setting a LOW TRAC light, if its a generic OBD I scanner then they probably have generic terms, and they may not make sense immediately.

There is roughly a page of OBD I codes, although on a 4/5 line scanner it will be pages yes.

I have only seen my low trac light twice since I owned the car and both times were recently while coming to a quick stop in rain??? Your explanation at least sheds some light on that code.
