Questions about LT4 Hot Cam Kit install...

Well I plan on purchasing the LT4 Hot Cam Kit sometime over my winter break and installing it while the camaro is away for the winter. Basically I want to find out what else I should do while I am in there, like any gaskets or timing chain or anything like that. Basically I want to get an idea of how much money I will need to spend to do this right the first time.

Also, is there anyone in the Albany, NY area that has done the Hot Cam before and would like to oversee what I do? I haven't done this before and want to make sure I do it right so some help would be great.

Thanks guys

well..i would replace the timing chain with a heavy duty one while your in there. You will have to also replace the timing chain cover gasket, and the intake manifold gasket. I would look at about 440 for the hot cam kit, and 130 or so for a heavy duty timing chain. So about, 700 for gaskets and all.

oh, plus you might look at the opti. Is it a weak spot on your car right now. Its going to be off while then install so you might think about replacing it and the water pump. You will also need gaskets for those as well.

Edit: how many miles?

I have 92k on the car right now...I don't think that the opti is a problem, at least I hope not, I do get some hesitation and what not, but I am hoping that it is my spark plugs and wires because the opti was replaced at like 70k or so....

No stocker chain. It will loosen and cause damage. Ive heard of and also know of a few that destroyed thier engine a couple years ago. For the money of ex duty just get a cloyes chain from Jegs for $70 for roller cams and a electic h2o pump $135 for a few more ponies.
