Question questions about headers

Okay, from what I've gathered by searching on this board, I have found 2 real reasons to order your headers ceramic coated. First of all it looks better, but I'm really not after looks. Secondly, it reduces the heat they emit and helps them to not rust. My question is, I'm assuming the stock manifolds aren't ceramic coated, I don't have any heat problems with them, so what would be the problem of saving 180 bucks and ordering non coated headers? I am seriously on a budget and am anticipating my tax return for some Hooker LT's Thanx!

Headers are thinner and therefore get hotter. The also have more surface area which radiates more heat. Also the coatting helps them work more efficiently by holding the heat in which hepls push the exhaust gasses out faster.I recommend getting them coated, they will last longer too.

Get them coated. They will last much longer. If you dont get them coated you will be shooting yourself in the foot 6 months from now.

Your factory exhaust is made of heavy cast iron which doesnt conduct heat and is much stronger. If you have ever had them off, look at how thick thay are. Headers are just Steel Tubing, Not cast iron like your block is made out of.
