Questions about Clutchs
Ill make it quick and short. If you want to hear the story you can really ask but I dont feel like writting it out now.
The shop my trannys getting rebuilt at uses Luk Clutchs. I asked if they would do a centerforce or some other brand I have heard of but they wouldnt give me a warranty so I said forget it.
But I was told BY HIM that they hold better then stock but I dont trust a thing he tells me. I want to hear from the boards and the people that have used a LUK clutch or know about the company quality in general.
Can any of you give me any insite on it. Hows it hold compared to o.e.m., how good they are etc.
Thanks.

Almost all clutches hold better than stock. Centerforce is better for Mustangs than it is for Camaros. If you want a clutch slightly better than stock get a Stage 2 Star Spec. If you want to go all out get a McLeod Street Twin but for a fairly stock car it is major overkill. For something which isn't much higher than stock get an LT4 clutch.
Never heard of Luk Clutch's.

In my opinion I would not go with a Centerforce clutch. What kind of budget are you working with?? If you plan on doing big mods in the future then I suggest doing it right the first time and going with a McLeod Street Twin. If not I would recommend going with a RPS clutch.

Centerforce is nothing more than re-worked and re-painted aftermarket clutches. I think in the F-car case, the Centerforce cover is the LuK cover painted orange with weights hung on it to increase clamp load. I work in the clutch business, and LuK has a good aftermarket program going, although I haven't seen firsthand their F-car setup. I have heard a lot of bad things about Centerforce, so I wouldn't go that route. If you wanted to keep it cheap, you could go with LuK, but also look at McLeod and SPEC. McLeod has a performance single disc setup that is about $400 compared to the $900+ for a street twin.

Well the Luk Clutch is what I told them to put in partly because I cant stand to not have my car any longer. Its been over a week so I didnt want to wait another for them to have to get a different aftermarket company shipped in.
So basically I was just looking to hear from people what they thought about Luk quility and how well it would hold compared to my stock one.
Thanks PatriotTA for the help. Its nice to know Luk has a little bit of a name out there. I had just never heard of them so I had to ask.

I hope 700 $$$ includes the install. Luk's run less tha 300.00 $.
They are a very good stock type replacement .
One of my co workers in Ohio has a brother that works for LUK.
He even gets free proto types to test.

I have a Luk clutch and hate it it does not stand up to the abuse of the strip. It holds fine around town but once you get some heat built up in it at the track it will slip. I would go with the spec. JMHO I have been through two Luk's first one we thought was faulty b/c it was slipping when it was new so we put the next one in sdame thing. I broke it in for about 400 miles and had the flywheel turned so the install was done right. Any way stay away if you can.
