Arrow Question for you LT1 guys.

I spoke with a guy today that is wanting to sell his 90' IROC for $2,500. Well it's putting down 400ftq and close to 350HP. Here's the kicker...it's a verified factory LT1 and on top of that it's a 1LE. He showed me the build sheet and the original window sticker for the car. It has a Stage 2 700R4 with the 9 bolt Borg Werner with 3.73 gears and a mild cam...and it's set for a mini 15 shot. My thing is....I don't have the money but I do have my 92' Z28 that I could sell...the only thing about it, should I? I only have an upgraded 3.42 gear in it. Help guys, I don't know what to do and don't want this to get away if at all possible.

Factory LT1 '90 IROC? NOPE.

400lb/350hp for $2500 in a decent '90 IROC, with a good tranny and rear, probably a decent deal.

Re: Question for you LT1 guys.

I know in 92 they looked at putting a built L98 in with the ZF-6 speed from the Corvette for the "Heretage Edition" 25th anniversary edition Camaro, but it cost to much and was scrapped.

But no factory LT1 Iroc's were ever made. Maybe it's stock except for the engine or a previous owner bought or modified an LT1 Intake and put it on the L98 which is possible.

Still doesn't sound like a bad deal either way.

Re: Question for you LT1 guys.

According to the Camaro White Book a 1990 1LE is fairly rare, with only 62 of them being built for the SCCA Showroom Stock races. They did not have an LT1 engine however. They were available with either the 305CI LB9 engine or the 350CI B2L engine.

Re: Question for you LT1 guys.

People call the TPI motors LT1s all the time. They also call LT1 motors, LS1s. But if its really built for a "15 shot" ****** it up. Btw, whats been done to the motor to give it 350hp, just a mild cam isn't going to get TPI to 350hp. Thats doable for TPI, unless its an actual LT1 swap, but not very likely if he's selling it for $2500. Also, who built the transmission? GM doesn't offer stage 2 builds. Its just the tried and true 700r4.

I say keep your Z28 and mod it.

Re: Question for you LT1 guys.

It's an actual factory LT1. I know how to read a build sheet and it is the LT1....the guy said the previous owner ordered it custom from the factory. My question is, is it worth dropping my current pride and joy for? I mean I would have no idea how to price it......any legitimate advice without calling out the legitimacy of it.

He said he got "Cheeseburgers" to do it. I think they're out of Augusta, GA.

And I'd love to mod my car but I won't ever have the money for it. I'm getting married soon and all of my money is going towards the wedding and the joint debt that's already accruing....she's 2 bachelor's degrees in student loans.... -.-

Re: Question for you LT1 guys.

If it's a 90, then the build sheet is bogus. If it were real, it would be worth a fortune, since the LT1 didn't show up in a Camaro until late in 92 for the 93 Z28. The Corvette didn't even have it yet in 90. If you are convinced it's real though, and people here don't know what they are talking about, buy it before it goes on eBay for $100K.

Lmao! Like what has been already said, the LT1 wasn't even available in a Corvette until 92. So it is highly unlikely (read, impossible) that a 1990 camaro iroc had one factory installed. That said, $2500 sounds like a decent deal for what has been done to the car.

If you believe this, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you too.

The LT1 didn't exist until the 1992 Corvette. It didn't exist in a Camaro until the 93 model year. If a 1990 Camaro has a LT1 in it, then it was modified years after it was built to have it. It wasn't factory installed and if he has a build sheet saying it was, its fake (you also apparently don't know how to read a build sheet, either).
