Question on timing chains...

I have a 94Z that I plan on doing the hot cam kit in the near future and was just wondering what the best bet is for a timing chain replacement while I am in there?

Do they make a timing gear set for the LT1's? Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Thanks

You have a few options. You can either keep the 94 setup and buy a Lunati chain (against that).

Convert to 95+ and either run a Cloyes double roller or LT4 HD. If you're keeping the stock waterpump, you'll have to run the LT4 HD.

Yea I am going to be using the stock WP, I am replacing it, but it will still be the stock one. Do you have an idea of how much the LT4 HD chain is? I am trying to get a total amount for the kit and all the extra parts and gaskets I need.

Thanks again for the help

You will have to do a vented opti conversion if you plan to use the LT4 ED timing set. That's alot of $$$ just to use the LT4 ED timing set.

Yea I would rather not do the vented opti conversion, thats why I am trying to get the correct parts that I need the first time without spending a ton of money, but I obviously wanna do it right.

Thanks guys

If your staying with the 94 setup. Stock or Lunati are your options.

You wouldn't happen to know the part number for the Lunati would ya?

I'd stick with the stock one, the LT4 is mucho dollars. It is an obvious time to make an upgrade, but how often do you see posts "broken timing chain " .....not to often.

that was my rationale anyways.

Sorry to chime in on your thread but I have the same question. I want to keep everything the way it is on my 95' Z. IE water pump,opti.,etc. So which timing chain to go with and what's the price?

Thanks for the help guys. The only thing I worry about with replacing with a new stock chain is that if I bump up the rev limiter will I run into problems on a stock chain?

Thanks again
