question on removing tranny- engine pulled already

ok..stupid questiom im sure..i removed my lt1 ftom 97 camaro with the tranny on..now its time to remove tranny and bellhousing off of block.
1) remove trannny first then bellhousing separate??
2) or remove bellhousing bolts and remive tranny and bellhousing in one piece??

2nd question.. do i need to drain engine oil and or transmission fluid before bellhousing removed??

thanks for any help

I drained both fluids before I removed from car. If your an auto I dont know but bellhousing off block is what I did. If manual be sure to disengage the clutch fork first or it probably will not seperate.

He indicates a "stage 3+ clutch", so it's an M6. I unbolted trans from bellhousing. Wet, it weighed 118#. If you don't want to drain it, and you don't want fluid running out of the tailshaft housing when tilted downward, cut the neck of a pop bottle so the diameter is the same as the tailshaft housing inside diameter, push the neck (with cap intact) into the tailshaft housing and duct tape it.

When you post from phone with the app it does not show the signatures. Not sure if anyone could remedy that but it sure would be nice and eliminate some guessing. Thats an interesting tip for not leaking fluid everywhere. I was at 150000 miles and did change fluid when I bought car @ 90,000 so figured some new fluid with the new motor would be a good idea.
