Question regarding MAC mids

I am planning on purchasing a set of MAC midlength headers by the end of the week. I did a search, but came up with nothing.

Are the MAC's coated when you buy them? I understand that they have a 'HTS' coating from the factory, but is this comparable to ceramic? Also, is only the y-pipe HTS coated, or are the headers also?

Should I leave on the HTS coating, or get it done by JetHot? How much should I expect to spend?

Also, what shops sell the MAC mids? Alot of the shops I checked with are only selling Hooker and SLP shorties

HTS=High Temperature Silicone--not the same as ceramic coating. You can order them directly from Jet Hot with the coating.

Is HTS comparable to ceramic. Will it prevent my headers from rusting, and will it keep underhood temperatures down?

I really don't think the HTS is comparable to the ceramic coating. Ceramic coating would be much better in my opinion. Some people have had luck with the HTS coating lasting, some have had problems with rust. For that matter, some people have had problems with the Jet Hot coating rusting, and some have not.

Did you know the primaries are only 1 5/8? those are too small. Find a header with 1 3/4 primaries. You will see a large difernce in power between the two types.

I disagree. You shouldnt see much of a difference on a mildly modded motor. The Macs are capable of supporting pleny of hp.

I would recommend the Mac Headers to be jet hot coated. Since there is a GP on the jet hot coated mac headers I would jump on that. I have heard the HTS coating does not last long and the headers will start to rust.

I've done alot of research on this matter, and I have decided to choose to go with the MAC mids, instead of Hooker/Jethot longtubes. The gains over ML headers do not seem to be significant, plus I have to pass the 'sniffer'

Ideally, I would go with some AS&M headers, but the funds do not allow me to do so. College sucks

I was quoted my Jethot for $561 for coated MAC mids, and $560 for JetHot longtubes

Yes, but the MAC's come with the Y-pipe and the LT's do not. That's about $200 more you would have to spend on the LT's because you have to buy the Y-pipe.

Red94_Formula,
Where are the dyno charts to prove your comment?

MAC mids have proven 30+ ft. lbs of TQ on dyno tests, and many cars are going low-mid 12's with them using cams like the (CC305)
