question for people with LTs

i took a ride in my friends 98 z28, he's got pacesetter long tubes, and an american thunder cat back system.

all the noise was coming from the bottom of the firewall. sitting in the car, you couldn't even hear the exhaust note coming from the tips.
it sounded like he had a cutout at the collectors of each header, but i asked and he said he didn't

is that typical with headers? or did he just have a huge exhaust leak? there was no ticking noise at all. just a really loud rumble at my feet.

it did sound more dominate on the drivers side floorboard tho. that's what makes me think maybe he just used clamps to hold the y-pipe to the collecter and they came loose or something.

Sounds like either an exhaust leak or a pipe rubbing the floorboard to me. Longtubes with full exhaust should not produce those kinds of noises.

hmm...maybe the y-pipe was rubbing against the floorboard. and just vibrating through the floorboard. i've heard that pacesetter y-pipes for LS1s don't fit that well...

anyone else have any input?
