question bout LT1 top end...

okay, so it has come to my understanding that somewhere about 40mph??? that the LS1 starts to make its pull on the LT1..does this sound about correct...okay my question is. im getting ready to do a swap into my 3rd gen. and the LT1 will be a lot cheaper, i plan on running low 12's possibly break into the 11's...so if i had the Loyd Elliot head/cam combo, along w/full bolt ons this should get me there correct? now in doing so will i still see the LS1's pulling harder up top? what can i do to make it more even?

You again! LOL.

I have headers, LS1 driveshaft, computer tune and 1.6 RR's on my 95 LT1. I pull my cousins 00 Trans am from a roll, stop, anything. We went up to 110 once and he couldn't catch up. I always pull about 2-3 cars on him and we stay right about there. He can't walk me.

The driveshaft is basically what connects your engine to your wheels on the f-bodies. Engine spings the transmission, transmission spins the driveshaft, driveshaft spins the wheels. By going with a lighter driveshaft, your not using extra power to spin something heavy.

Connects the output shaft of the transmission to the pinion shaft of the rear axle/differential.

Personally, I would go with an LS1 instead of an LT1 swap. That way you have all the advantages the LS1 guys have over the LT1 at the start.

$$$'s the only problem. LT1's almost a direct bolt in, LS1's more complex to fit in a thirdgen.

Re: question bout LT1 top end...

Honestly how long are most non-strip races? My boat of a Caprice with a mildly cam LT1, 2800stall, and stock exhaust manifolds will take most f-bodies to the 1/8th even on street tires. By f-bodies I mean LT1 and LS1 .
If you mod the motor to make more HP than an LS1 has then you will have the topend pull simple as that, ported heads and a cam will likely do the trick nicely as long as you do the accosiated stuff like proper programming and headers.
