Question about stock rev limiter, auto tranny
Quick question for you guys. My A4 Formula (3.23's) at WOT shifts out of 1st at 6200 rpm, according to the stock tach. It doesn't feel like it's slipping or anything. Is this normal? Has the car been programmed or something? Seems like I read some where that the stock rev limiter is 5800.
Is the stock tach just not that accurate?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks. --J.Bird

Re: Question about stock rev limiter, auto tranny
My Car Shifts 3 Ticks After The Ticks Turn Red And Before It Used To Shift A Little After 6k Rpms And It Was A Lag Especially In From 2nd To 3rd...i Changed The Tranny Fluid And It Made A Huge Difference...when Was The Last Time You Changed Your Fluid?
Re: Question about stock rev limiter, auto tranny
I just got the car about three months ago. It's got about 74k on it now. I'm really not even sure when or if it was changed before. I almost hate to change it because everyone says to leave high-milage trannies alone, not sure what to do.
Mines got a little lag sometimes in the 1-2 shift, but I believe I'm just feeling that lag due to traction loss. There isn't enough room around here where there aren't any cops to go 2-3 shift WOT much. I'll see how bad it is on my next road trip (Dec. 22).
I suppose more than anything I'm worried about roasting the tranny. Everyone says they're pretty weak for the engine. I'd rather have a six speed car, but I found the right deal on mine so I grabbed it.
Thanks for the reply, didn't think anyone was going to post up.
Any more help is appreciated.
