Question about stock exhaust and headers.
Question about stock exhaust and headers.
I purchased some hooker headers that are going to be going on my car when I get the engine dropped in. However, I want to remove the piping that goes into the stock manifolds(stock manifolds are already removed). Where should I cut the exhaust off at? Before the Cat or after? I wouldnt mind sticking with the cat if it will route correctly with my LT hooker headers on. If it wont fit with the cat in the stock location, then I would rather just get a custom Y Pipe. I have to cut the exhaust due to the fact that it is all welded together.
Re: Question about stock exhaust and headers.
Currently I dont have a Y Pipe. I basically removed my old LT1 engine, rebuilt it, and now its done and I am looking to put it back in the engine bay. However, I will be replacing the old exhaust manifolds with my new hooker LT headers. So I was wondering where to cut off my exhaust that enters the engine bay to make room for my new headers and Y pipe. Do I cut the exhaust off after the Cat or before the Cat.
Also,
I cant seem to find the oil pump drive gear bolt. Can someone tell me the size of this bolt?

If you look at the picture above, its number 66 in that diagram. I have so many bolts and I cant find the one I need.

Re: Question about stock exhaust and headers.
If you have stock exhaust, just cut it right before the cat if you still want to be street legal, then just weld your new y-pipe from the lt's to the cat. Just keep mind, the tighter the angles you have in your piping, the less flow you get.
