Question about SS hood??

I just put a Suncoast SS hood on my Z and I have a question....where the filter seals on the hood there is no foam on the edge closest to the front of the car....is there a particular reason for this? Is it to channel water or something? I would think that it would seal better if there was the foam padding on front as well.....any input is appreciated.

Thanks

You dont want to seal the front. That is where the air is coming from.

Well yea I don't mean the very front of the hood where the air goes in, I mean basically sealing around the entire air box, not just three sides....

I am thinking about it, thats why I asked the question...its like trying to seal a window on only three sides....air would leak in where you did not want it to....so that is what I am wondering....if not sealed on all 4 sides will there be a lot of air that "leaks" out before it is actually "forced" into the air filter?

Ok,if you sealed all four sides against the hood. How is the engine going to get air?

Well my guess would be the same way that the engine gets air with a stock hood that has no holes in it to begin with?????

Maybe I am not stating this correctly....if I want Ram Air that is at its peak performance I would think that the more air the filter gets the better...am I correct???? If so, then why wouldn't blocking off everything around the filter so all possible air goes directly into the filter work?? Or is the Ram Air supposed to cool the engine bay as well?
