question about removing lt1 from m6

i have a question about removing the motor from the top. i have all the transmission bolts out and motor mounts out. im trying to lift it out but it seems to snag on something. im clear from the oil pan so its not hitting that. to me it seems like the release bearin/ fork are binding the clutch from completely clearing the input shaft. i was woundering if anyone ran into this when removing theirs. i removed the slave cylinder and can see the fork kinda binding. if i push the motor to the tranny i can move the fork freely but when i try to pull it out i get about 2-3 inches and the fork is pryed up against the case. anything will help

thanks

Re: question about removing lt1 from m6

you have to pull the fork down to the left to release it off the t/o bearing
then you should hvae no problem pulling the motor forward..

yeah, on these, the release bearing is attached to the pressure plate, so you need to disengage the fork, remove the 2 nuts holding the slave cylinder the the trans, then there is a alum. housing thing on the same studs, slide it off to the rear, then pull the fork into the opening, you may need to relive some of the tension you have intruduced by trying to seperate the engine, but it will pull down

If I read your post correctly, you've already removed the slave cylinder. Remove the housing spacer that mounts over the same 2 studs as the slave cylinder. Butt the transmission back up to the bell housing, grab the end of the clutch fork (the part the slave cylinder pushes on) and pull it to the left and out from the bell housing. It should move a couple of inches. The will release it from the throw-out bearing and allow the tranny to slide off.

Also, if you haven't done so already, remove the dust cover plate
