Hello I have a 1994 camaro z28. I wanted to put weld prostar draglites on my car. I know they make them in 15" Whats the biggest size I can get in 15" 15x8?? 15x10?? Also would this affect my performance going from a stock 16x8 wheel to a smaller size rim. I have a hypertech programmer will that fix it??. Also if I can use 15x10 for the fronts and rears will that be a wider tire then 16x8???. Please let me know - Which one I can use

Rim size has nothing to do with causing differences in your spedo. The difference is caused by switching to a tire with a different overall diameter.

Have you checked to make sure the wheels are available in a offset to fit the camaro? Our cars have lots of backspacing, and many rims are not available to fit them. If you switch from a 16" to a 15" your handling will suffer. The bigger the rim, the better the handeling (to a point). I assume your going to wider rims to improve handling, If you use the 15" rims it would be like shooting your self in the foot. Also, if you have LS1 brakes on the front they will not clear the 15" wheels.

I personally would not install 10" wide wheels on the front. With these rims you would be looking to use something around a 295 tire. Take it from me, your car will follow every crack in the road and will have a tendency to wander. I would put 8 or 9" on the front and 10" on the back.

Just curious... why would you want to put a 10" wide wheel designed for light weight and drag racing on the front of a car? While they are acceptable for street use, they aren't designed for going around corners as much as they are intended for straight line use.

That said... in the front you will need a 5/16" spacer to clear the clip that holds the brake pads in the caliper and the big horizontal bar on the steering knuckle. In both the front and tha back, you need longer wheel studs, since the Draglites use an "extra long shank mag-style" lug. Lingenfelter and GM Performance parts sell 2.67" studs with the correct knurl for the 4th Gen F-Body. I doubt you will have good luck with a 10" wide wheel in the front. 285 is about the largest width for a tire, without some rubbing. The max backspace on the front with a 15" wheel is ***probably*** about 7". Since the Draglites come in 1/2" increments, you would be looking at a 15x10" wheel with 6.5" backspace. That would put the outside edge of the wheel tire outside the fender. Your best bet would probably be a 15x8 w/ a 5.5" backspace. Even that is going to stick out a lot.

In the back, 15x10 with 7.5" backspace. Longer wheel studs, as above. Grind the fins off the brake calipers.

You might want to consider the Weld Draglite XP wheels, since they are intended more for street use... a little heavier, I believe less clearance issues and friendlier offsets. You also aren't going to find a wide variety of 15" "performance" oriented tires... and when you find really wide ones, they will typically be a larger diameter than stock, which will throw the speedo off, and negate some of your rear end gearing.
