Question about my heads on my 383 stroker (Ported lt1 castings)
Question about my heads on my 383 stroker (Ported lt1 castings)
Hey all, i got my 383 stroker back from the engine shop today. I have a quick question about my heads, they are stock lt1 castings which are ported. On the driver side head toward the front on the exhaust port side there is a roughly 1/2" or so threaded hole that leads to the water jacket. I know this is for the coolant temp sensor. BUT on the rear of the passenger side head there is the same hole, same side, threaded into the water jacket also. I assume this is done to make the left and right heads interchangable? What should I use to plug the hole on the passenger side head since its not going to be used for a sensor. ALSO, on the front and rear of the heads there is 1 water jacket on each head on each side, this i assume is also to make them interchangable, does anyone know the part number to those plugs so that i can cap the water jacket holes in the front of the head since the lines will be in the back? THanks alot!
Re: Question about my heads on my 383 stroker (Ported lt1 castings)
I want to new ones since the heads i bought did not have them in one spot and was the wrong one in another.....Is this a dealer item? Or can I goto home depot and get a pipe fitting or something....?
Re: Question about my heads on my 383 stroker (Ported lt1 castings)
So I found the P/N for the small plugs that go in the front of the heads they are 1/4-18 pipe fitting. GM PN: 144011 But i still cant find what is used to plug that threaded coolant temp sensor type hole on the passenger exhaust side of the head, toward the rear.
