Question about my computer

My battery died and my car wont start. I have been told that I need to have my computer "flashed" because it lost its memory. Alocal auto parts store just got a machine to do this, but you have to take the computer out in order to use it. I was wondering if there are any precautions in doing so or do you just unbolt and disconnect the harnesses?

Thanks

Your PCM will reset itself. No worries about that.

Is your battery totally dead? Is it turning over?

Are you serious?!?!

I have been dealing with this for a couple weeks now. Trying to bring it out for spring. I have battery power and the starter cranks it just won't fire.

your computer is fine. the only thing that gets erased is the "learned" memory but basic program is still there.

look for a burnt fuse. if none then look below...

check for spark and check for fuel. depress the shrader valve to see if fuel squirts out and listen for humming from the pump. if you have those then pull the wire off the coil and see if you have spark from the opti. if that passes then put the wire back on the coil and check a plug wire to see if its firing. check that stuff out and then come back.

These are the things I have checked:
Fuel pump hums.
Fuses are all okay.
It is hard to work on because it is far away and in a "high class" condominium parking garage that doesnt allow teenagers to work on their cars. So I have to do work on it secretly. That really sucks that it isnt the computer. 3 people told me it was.
Thanks
(gawd I dont want to have to tow it)
