Question about a fuel line

When I was under my car this weekend, I saw a small black tube that came out from under the top of my gas tank, and it was just hanging there. I'm guessing its the line for the gas tank vent, but where does it go? And when I shut my car off in the garage after driving it, I smell gas...

Re: Question about a fuel line

The vent line for the fuel tank is supposed to be connected to the charcoal canister in the driver's side rear fender. If it isn't connected, you will get a lot of fuel smell at the rear of the car.

Re: Question about a fuel line

Can I get the line back on without dropping the tank, or atleast just lowering it?

Re: Question about a fuel line

Well I traced the line back to the canister, and its the fresh air inlet. That still doesn't explain the smell of fuel when I park my car, any ideas on that one?

Re: Question about a fuel line

I believe a symptom of a failing charcoal canister is gas fumes. Might try doing a Search.

Re: Question about a fuel line

Is the line for the middle outlet of the charcal canister is supposed to just hang above the gas tank? It doesn't look like there was a fitting in there...
