question about downshift
question about downshift
with my newly installed 3.73s i can be driving on the street doing about 40mph and my speedo reads 80mph, could this cause a weaker downshift when i go into WOT from a roll. also i am throwing a code for my VSS.
Im not positive but I dont think it would sence the 93 trans isnt computer controlled. Maybe you should play with the TV cable and see there that gets you. I just done an A4 to T56 swap and my speedo was slow(thanks to getting hosed on a 93 T56) and my car ran fine. For one thing Im not sure what your gear ratio was befor, but at 40 mph if you had 2.73s or 3.23s your car probibly down shifted into 1st gear and now that you have 3.73s it might only go down into 2nd. Those are just a few of ideas, Im not sure if Im 100% correct but I hope that helps alittle.

Not sure on the 93 if the speedo is computer controlled, if it isn't you have to get a new speedo gear on the speedo cable it goes into the trans. If it is computer controlled you have to reprogram your computer. I thinkl they are computer controlled though, so a hypertech power programer three will do that or you can get a laptop system such as CATS or LT-1 edit, which would be better for future tuning and mods.
The 93 speedo is NOT computer controlled. The A4 guys can get a new gear ring or whatever it is for the tranny, M6 guys have the unfortunate luck of having to use a speedometer recalibration box, which no one makes anymore.
Speedracer, have you looked over on the speed density LT1 forum?? You may find some good information over there. Link in sig.
