Question about CC Pro-mag rocker arms

I want to install the 1.6 7/16" ones. Do these fit in conjunction with the stock valve covers or do they need clearancing?

Also, I have head studs. The body of the roller rocker seems really wide at the bottom and I was concerned it may interfere with the stud. Any experiences with this?
Thanks

I don't know about using them with the head studs, but the valve covers will definitely need to be modified for clearance.

If they aren't touching the studs they will be OK and they make narrow RR's to fit under the covers.

Go with the NSA and just clearance the covers. It took all of 10 min with a die grinder and a cutting wheel.

Re: Question about CC Pro-mag rocker arms

Can someone measure the width of the rocker where the trunnion is located on the bottom? If I have this measurement, I could probably determine if they will interfere with the studs. This is what I am worried about, not the valve cover clearancing.
Thanks, Ed

I disagree, running my cc 1.6 rr with stock valve covers, no problems and no noise. I have a 96.

Re: Question about CC Pro-mag rocker arms

Well, there is sufficient clearance from the studs, no problem there. By taking some careful measurements I will probably be able to determine if the valve cover drippers will interfere.

For the record I am really impressed by the quality of these rockers, although they are about 1/2 pound each, I don't think that matters much because most of the mass is centered near the pivot point. They appear pretty much bullet proof. Very impressive piece.

Re: Question about CC Pro-mag rocker arms

What will interfere is the supports that run from one side of the valve cover to the other. A bit of grinding will take care of it.

Re: Question about CC Pro-mag rocker arms

I have exactly what you are using and mine do touch at least one of my studs but very lightly.
I will have my pushrods in the next day or two so that I can do the final mock up to find out how close they really are.
With my block zero decked, Felpro .039 gasket, unmilled stock heads and guideplates, a 7.1" pushrods make the rockers sit very close to the studs.
I'll have a better answer when my pushrods come in but with the length checker they were just barely touching.

Re: Question about CC Pro-mag rocker arms

My block is stock, never shaved. The heads have been shaved lightly, like
.005" to clean them up. I am using the felpro gasket also. There is at least 1/8" clearance between the rocker arm and the head stud.

The valve cover dripper/brace hits because the lower part of the rocker arm at the trunnions almost butt together because they are so wide, there is only about 1/8" between them. All I did was bend 1 section of the dripper brace back with plyers so it was flat, then the valve cover fit on. It is the brace from the center bolt hole towards the intake manifold on the lower section of the valve cover when installed on the engine.

Many years ago when I installed head studs, I had to notch this same piece in order for the covers to fit. So, anyone planning to use head studs, you need to check this clearance.
