Question about AC delete?
Question about AC delete?
So my compressor locked up and I can't afford to fix it now. I've decided to delete the AC until I can afford to fix it. My question is if I pull the compressor and install the 1LE delete pully is that all I have to do or what? If I do this will I still be able to use my heater/defrost? Once I can afford to fix the AC the only thing I need to do install a new compressor, and charge the system, right?
Did the clutch lock up or just the compressor?
If it is just the compressor and the clutch still lets the pulley turn , I would leave it alone, Keep moisture out of the rest of the A/C system though until you get a new compressor. And dry it good no matter what(with pump).

First the AC stopped blowing cold for about 2 days. So I tried to just reset the pcm. Turned the car back on, and it still didn't work. Then I started to smell smoke, looked at the AC compressor pulley and it was glowing orange. It finally locked up. I'm just trying to figure out what I can get by with until I can afford a new compressor. The car's my daily driver.
I had my A/C codes deleted from the PCM when I had it tuned. On my emissions sheet, it did have a section for the A/C, but there was a N/A in its space. I'm not sure if they even care or not.
If the tech is a stickler then he will fail you. If they scan any engine/body/trans trouble codes, then they have the option to fail you. If you program the pcm to delete the a/c, then you shouldn't have any problems with the emissions. Believe it or not, the a/c does affect emissions, especially if the tech wants to be an a$$.
