Question about 58mm TB adaptors on ebay

Does this work? Or would I be better off porting my intake? Or just running a 52mm TB?

Save your money. Do a port job if you want to go to a 58mm, but this adapter is a waste of coin.
I run a 52mm, but many others go larger with more radical engines.

Its a bottle neck how can it help you any. You can only flow as much air and the narrowest point allows so might as well go to a 52mm tb. I wouldn't buy one from them anyways lots of people don't gain 25rwhp going from a stock tb to a 58mm.

The Intake is ~52mm stock. I guess it is a good buy if you're looking for a TB spacer. However, "adaptor" (use that term loosley) or not, you still need a port job to make that 58mm worthwhile. Just get a Monoblade and be done with it.

Agree! Thats what I kinda thought. Anyways it would be cheaper for me to port my stock intake. Ive got a 52mm TB new in box, but im debating on selling and doing a 58mm...

Porting the intake for a 58 mm throttlebody isnt that difficult. All you really need to do is to trace the 58mm gasket and use a grinder and follow the lines. Of course you will need to remove the intake to do so.

Not that I have done it myself yet, but have seen many people port their manifolds for larger throttle bodies while leaving it bolted to the motor.
Put some rags behind the two bores and go at the metal. When you are thru, just get a GOOD vaccum and pull out the rags.
Worst case scenario, you then have to pull the manifold. Not hard to do, go slowly, takes about 4 hours, ensuring everything is where its suppose to be.

Ive seen an article somewhere on how to port it on the car. Looks pretty easy to do. You just have to be extra careful about getting shaving all over and inside the intake.

Porting while on the car sounds like the worst idea ever... no matter how careful you are....

Order yours today!

If your interested, I have a LT1 intake that is already ported out to 58mm that I want to get out of the garage. I could use the cash, or trade for that matter.

Re: Question about 58mm TB adaptors on ebay

While I agree it seems silly, I think it's worthwhile to point out that the adapter appears to be tapered so that a 58mm Throttle Body will mate up smoothly to a 52mm Intake. That's gotta be better than leaving the step in it. Not something I'd ever buy, but I could see intention behind it. All they've probably done it took a non-optimized setup, added a band-aid, and claimed the "gains"...but I wouldn't put it in the same class as the Turbonator, etc.
