Quarter mile numbers for LE3 head 355's????
Quarter mile numbers for LE3 head 355's????
Just curious about if anyone has any solid numbers for a set of Lloyds heads on a 355. I've already got the bottom end built, and am looking into a set of heads from Lloyd. The motor is a 12:1, 6" rod, 847 cammed 355. The car is a 3200# '93Z with a 700, 3:73 gears, and Spohn suspension. I need a set of heads that will put me in the 11.2 -11.3 range (on motor). I'll shoot a 200 shot on top of that.
Thanks,
Frank
Thanks,
Frank

My times aren't really worth posting yet, but with the LE2 I picked up about 5 mph over my old cam only setup in similar conditions. Not worth posting b/c that was my first shakedown run only 48 hours after completing the car, and rounding out a cam due to a possible loose rocker... also, the tranny was slipping 2-3 and not allowing the car to shift at the 6500 rpm shift point.
My new setup will be a 355 with LE2 heads, and an LE3 cam. I'm hoping to go for low 11's with this setup.
I need to contact you about a tranny first, probably in a few months once I get my car together, as my 2-3 is slipping bad at high RPM. Stock (cept for a transgo stage 2 and vigi 3200) 4L60E, 90k miles, tons of 1.6x 60' times, and tons of low 12 sec passes, and raped on the street constantly.

That's cool. Keep me in mind. Looking for something similar to what Matt has?

Have your prices come down a bit? They look lower than last I checked.
Don't worry, you are my #1 choice when it comes to where it's going to go, now orries.

Hughes makes a GREAT racing transmission. I personally think they are one of the best in the business. www.hughesperformance.com
The Chevelle in the link in my sig has a hughes transmission and it was opened up at 40000 miles and the guy who built it said it looked brand new. Fill out a tech card and talk to them.

With going to LE2 heads and staying with the CC 503 I picked up .8 tenths of a second over Agistino ported Iron heads from 12.9's to 12.1's. This is in a 4400 lb Impala SS with a 355 bottom end.

Ellis went 11.85....LE2 heads, 12 bolt 3.73 gear, yank converter, 847cam.
Car weight was 3800lbs at the time, and the bottom end was out of a junkyard car. We just rolled some new bearings in it and ran it for two years at the strip and DD...
Now with a 12 to 1, 380 cubic inch, a liitle bigger cam, more porting to support high rpm in the 380. The car ran a 11.47 spinning the tires on the launch. 17's up front. Were hoping to see 11.2's now with a 150lb lighter combo including front drag tires and rims(still 3650 weight).
So, yes his heads work great........

Re: Quarter mile numbers for LE3 head 355's????
I'd be looking more at dyno #s and trap speeds w/ specific motor mods. A 355ci LE3 could run anywhere from 14s to 10s. Quater miles times are highly dependant on track conditions, car setup, driver skill, etc.
