q's for guys with 396's?

just wondering what kind of lift you guys are running and if ny of you are using Afr 210 heads. if so do you need any valve releifs in you pistons and if you do what size are they. also what compression ratio do you have.

The head type doen't matter, its the chamber volume that counts. I believe the AFR can be ordered with different chamber volumes.
I don't suppose ur thinking of using a dommed piston with a stoker . NOT GOOD
I have 14cc dished pistons that give me 11.35:1 CR. The cam lift is 0.544/0.555, and I'm sure I could go higher without fear of hitting the piston.

the Afr 210 LT4's only come with a 76cc combustion chamber which is pretty big. the reason i was asking is because to get the 11:1 compression ratio i want i would have to use a flat top piston at a zero deck height to get it. that is why i wanted to know of anyone with the same setup, and why i asked about the size of valve reliefs i would need if any. i dont know what kind of lift i would have so i just want to make sure there is room.

I believe all dome pistons have reliefes. Your best option IMO is to use flat top pistons limit your quench distance to about 40-45, And adjust your CR by milling the heads. The AFR 210 is a 23 degree head, so milling 0.008" will reduce the chamber volume by 1cc.

now what about if you wanted to run a blower? (S/C or turbo)

good idea i never even thought about gettng the heads milled. i wonder what the max is, if i could get them down to 70cc's that would be great it is .008" per cc so i think i can do it.

oh yeah SGfuryZ that is just it i dont want to run a blower supercharger or nitrous. i want all motor, and even then if i did i just buy new dished pistons with a new compression height so they are in the hole a bit.

no, I was just curious about what type of pistons on a 396 would someone run if they were building it to have a blower on it...
