Q about Engine detailing

what precuations should i take before detaling my LT1? Should I even do this because of the optispark? I dont want to wreck anything. What's the best product to use on it? That engine foam stuff then a degreaser on the rest? and maybe some armor all on the plastic bits? thats what I was thinking, let me know if I am even close or if it needs to be professionaly done.

hrrmmmm, I would think twice about it, I shorted out an opti driving through a touchless car wash that had water jets that spray straight up to wash the frame. Well they washed the frame and my opti . I just wipe my motor down with a rag.

i am in the reconditioning business.....i wish i had the luxury of being able to blast my entire engine bay like i do with all of the other cars that come through the shop....simple green or any other all purpose cleaner is strong enough to take off almost any oil or grease mark, and you can spray it lightly around your intake and valve cover, battery, etc., making a horseshoe shape to avoid the opti.

use a pressure washer to take off the dirt then....garden hose will not be effective.

be very careful though!!!
