Puzzled?? Factory build?

OK so I got my top end half way tore down and run across really clean heads and almost new felpro gaskets. So I take the front of the bracket off the driver side head and see a warlock casting? Tried searching Google on them but can't seem to find nothing on them. Is this factory? Also intake ports seemed to be ported and polished? I'm not a pro of internal parts so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looks like they have been port or gasket matched. They could also have a performance valve job. Can't imagine someone marking them for just a gasket match.

The factory heads have part #'s on top, under the valve cover. What's on yours?

That's the stock LT1 head casting number from 92 - 94 (although it is sometimes found on later models).

You need to add a "Signature" so we know what year your car is, etc. Year, model, trans and any major mods.

Here is what factory 374 heads look like as cast

by the looks of your heads it appears they have been gasket match and opened up a little, but nothing appears to be done in the bowls

For comparison here is a full 200 CNC port job done

That summed it up for me on the porting thanks. How could I tell if it has had a valve job? I know it still has stock rockers and looks to be stainless push rods? I still have the heads off. I know porting is a time consuming thing and most machine shops don't even want to do it. But why take the time to port and not build the head? Here are some other pics of it.

Looks like a home gasket match job, even the most basic professional porting jobs should include peaking the guides and that has not been done in the picture you posted.

At the very least, I would take them to a trusted shop and have them inspect the seats. They will let you know if they have had or need a valve job. I can't tell what the springs are. Have them tested and upgraded as well. Then you'll know for sure you have a good set of heads.

Re: Puzzled?? Factory build?

I seem to recall a shop named Warlock Performance advertised in magazines years ago and that number on top appears to be a date. June 23, 2006 If I had to guess the number on the bottom is an invoice number for the work. They're actually stamped letters and numbers, not casting numbers or marks. That is definitely a hand port job though and not a CNC program.

I can't find anything even remotely related to Warlock on the web which means they have likely been out of business for a while now.

If you removed one or two of the valves and look at the back where they contact the valve seat you should be able to tell if a valve job was done just make sure they go back in the same holes.

Ok i just put the top end back together. Now it has a ruff take off in 1st like a miss and a shake. Almost feels like a broke trans mount. But once it gets up past 2500k rpm it sits you back in the seat. I have not had a chance to check under the car or at the optispark.
