Putting LT1 Engine in my 95 Camaro Z28
Putting LT1 Engine in my 95 Camaro Z28
Alright. So I’m completely new to this, I signed up yesterday. The 95 Z28 is my first car and when I bought it the engine wasn’t in the car (long story on that but the engine is perfectly fine). My question is, can anyone point me to a step by step guide as to how to install the engine back into the car? I’m a novice as a mechanic too but I will have help from someone with more experience; however, he hasn’t done an engine a while either. Anything from an explanation to a link for a guide would be really helpful. Also, I’m not sure if it matters, but it has an automatic transmission in it.

Also, I noticed that there is different spot where this should be, but I don’t know how to move it there... if someone could explain that to me, or move it, that would help a lot too.

I'll move this to “LT1 Based Engine Tech”.
There are two ways to put the engine back in the car. You can get an engine hoist and drop it in from the top. Or you can drop the K-Member that supports the engine and suspension, raise the nose of the car, install the engine on the K-member, and drop the nose over the assembled engine/suspension/K-member. The factory service manual has detailed instructions for the factory recommended way of dropping the engine out the bottom of the car, and then reinstalling it.
Obviously, the factory manual assumes the chassis is on a lift, and the lift is used to raise and lower the chassis over the engine. But it’s possible to do this without a lift, and there are a couple of decent sites showing how.
Here's a site, courtesy of GaryDoug, where you can download a free copy of the 1995 factory service manual:

And there is a lot of useful info on Shoebox's site showing the components of a 1995 LT1 and how they fit together. For example, his photo of the engine wiring harness.
