putting Ice bags on my intake

Im thinking about bringing some bags of ice to the track tonight. I have seen different methods of putting ice on your engine. Some just sit the bag on top of the intake manifold, some sit it on the intake elbow, some wrap the bag of ice up in a towel. what's the best method for doing this or any tips you might have.

just worried about water dripping all over my plug wires or getting into the opti.

Instead of all that mess, just get a big block or cowl induction hood like I did!!!

I do it all the time,i just put the bag of ice on the top of the intake and keep a eye on it so it doesn't leak onto the opti.

Nah, nothing to worry about... all of the electrical wiring is 'weather/water proof', to an extent. I always bring a few bags to the track, and usually put them right on top of the intake manifold... you'll get some water on the engine, but it evaporates off pretty quickly. If you have someone with you, push the car while its in line to make a pass, and keep the ice on it till you're ready to pull up to the water box (have your wife/buddy grab the bag and shut the hood right as you're pulling up to do the burn out). If you do it right, the intake will be very cold to the touch.

Some tracks are very picky about this practice - just be sure you aren't making anyone mad by dripping water all over the staging area!

I would just set the bag on the manifold. Made a nice differnce on the dyno for me. Odd part was the LS1 prefers a heat soaked manifold when we dynoed.
