383 in Califronia... Well it pass smog???

I'm looking to put a stock stocked 383 in my camaro, I'm going to run the cc305 cam. I know it won't pass smog with this cam with out programing. Is anyone running this set up in california???

Man...that cam will pass easy. Just have the tune good, and a good working cat...and you'll be fine.

If your programming is on and the car is running well, yes it will pass. 383s have been passing here without real issues, especially when you stick with moderate cams like that one. I can provide a source if needed.

I would mind seeing your source (if it isn't to much trouble). Also I sent an e-mail to PCMforless asking about the programing. Dose anyone acutly have this set up and live in CA?

Kuppler, jump on the BA Motorhead list.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/bamotor/

You can set the list for digest mode if you dont like getting a ton of email in your box.

Troy Clark, Impy 396 cc305 passed. There is at least one other person with a 383 that passed a 305, the name skips, but you can ask on the list. I know its someone who is still around.

Plus, a cam will be cleaner in a 383 than it will be in a 350, so you have nothing to worry about, provided your car is running right. Bring it to the test station warm (dont let the CAT/engine cool down), change your oil before hand if you like, and dont show up on a full tank (charcoal canister can be an issue).

There was also a poster on this board who passed a 305 on a STOCK tune.

Are the heads a question when going though emissions? If so please tell me how they are.

Friend with 383 Impala w/CC EE 224/236 cam passed with flying colors. All he did was put fresh aftermarket cats on....did the trick.
