Putting a carb on an LT1

Wondered if anyone here has coverted there LT1 to a carb. I know Summit sells the intake for it, just wondered what else might be involved?? A 750 carb would be the right size I believe. I was told by someone a while ago it should create Hp sooner than fuel injected, and be quicker off the line?? Not sure if that is true or what??

Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and stick with fuel injected.

I want to turn the Camaro back into a muscle car, and fuel injection is very boring. Anyone here done it, please reply, anyone with negative comments, please don't.

People have done it but its not popular because EFI > carb. I think youll need a cowl hood to clear the carb air cleaner assembly.

Lots have done it. What do you need or want to know?

Quicker off the line is going to be hard to say because I have a monsterous cam. I think fuel injection is going to be better with a more stock motor. But if you still are interested just ask away!

Re: Putting a carb on an LT1

If I recall properly, Super Chevy magazine did a article comparing fuel injection to carburetion. They did this with a dyno on the same long block engine by simply swapping the fuel deliverly systems. As for horse power numbers it was nearly identical at higher rpm, but the fuel injection had an advantage at lower rpm and idled smoother. Just something to think about.
