putting a 95+ exhaust on a 93

hey there everyone,
I read somewhere that the one of the problems with 93 Z28 camaro's that stops them from making as much hp as 95+ Z28 camaro's is their restrictive exhaust. I also was surprised to read that if you install a 95+ Z28 exhaust on a 93 then the 93 will make huge performance gains and even produce more hp than a 95+ does. Is this right??? and can I install a stock exhaust from a 95+ camaro onto my 93 camaro??

Before you answer things like "get an slp, borla or flowmaster" I really don't want to know that. ALL I want to know is will a stock 95+ Z28 camaro exhaust bolt right onto my 1993 Z28 and will it give me a performance increase? Thanks in advance for all the info and help. Zwrangler.

93-95 has a single cat, 96+ has dual cats. Stick with the 93, only thing difference with 93s from 94 and 95s cars is that the 93s have the emisions crap in different locations.
Where ever you read 93s have more restrictive exhuast was wrong.

Yes and No.

The manifolds are slightly different. The 93 has it's AIR injection fitting located over the #1 primary, and the Secondary AIR injection fitting was located over the #8 primary. On the 94-95 setup, the driver side is the same. But the passenger side has the Secondary AIR Injection fitting moved to the #2 primary, and there is an EGR riser located on the #8 primary.

Other than that, the Y-Pipe, Cat, and Cat-Back are all the same components I believe. Those will bolt right up.

actually i read the 93 has a restrictive exhaust on Speeddensity.com which is a forum just for 1993 f-bodies, so it would be pretty funny if they were wrong Thanks for the help again.

When and who said that. Was that on the most recent version of the speed density board (link in sig) or something else??

heres the link

http://www.speeddensity.org/

hope it works. in case it doesn't, it was said by a member called JasonFry and heres the quote
Also, the stock exhaust system on a 93 is very restrictive. You put the stock exhaust system from a 94-97 and you'll see as much or more HP as a 94-97 car.
sorry if i stepped on any toes

OKay the link works, but it didn't go to the thread itself, just the main page. So go to GENERAL TECH and its the thread titled "BASHING 93's??"

Yeah, I know the thread. I'm a mod over there.

I just didn't remember him saying that. AFAIK, the exhaust systems were the same.
