pushrods

i bought new pushrods from O'rielys. i told them i needed the length to be 7.250 and dia. 5/16 when i picked them up they are a tad too long mabey .250 or so, i dnt have the tool too measure right now any way if they are just a little too long can i still use them. what if they are a half inch too long would that still be ok. i know it would probly change the ratio of the RR's. any advice would be helpfull. i just got them today so i can take them back later.and hopefully they will give me the size that i told them.

in case u need to know it is a chevy 350 96' lt1. with a hydrolic roller cam and roller lifters and 1.5 roller rockers. stock heads and stock intake exhaust valves.

Re: pushrods

I am hoping that you have a misunderstanding of pushrod length and/or how decimal points translate to overall dimension because a pushrod that is half an inch too long will obviously not work.

Your pushrod length needs to be extremely accurate, within .05" of an inch or better (a quarter of an inch is .25" and a half inch is .50"), for a proper narrow sweep centered over the valve.

The content of your post is worrying.

Re: pushrods

Ok u have misread my post I know what pushrod I need, they gave me the wrong size my question was even if the pushrods where .25 longer would they work it would make my pushrod length 7.5 total it wouldn't be half of an inch it would be only .25. Ok second my engine is a 1996 year model 350 V8 LT1. So I think u misunderstood me srry about that.

Re: pushrods

If your heads are stock and there has been no surface work done on them or the block deck, you need 7.200" (stock length) pushrods. If you want to be the most accurate on what you need, use a length checker. Don't buy anything blind.
