Pushrods for 383 project...used a checker...have ???
Pushrods for 383 project...used a checker...have ???
I'll give the short and sweet of my setup.
Block is .002 above zero deck.
Using Felpro .039 gasket
Stock heads. (with porting but never milled to my knowledge)
If you have the basic same setup what length worked best for you?
I used the pushrod checker and came up with 7.1 as the length that I thought looked the best.
This is not my picture (thanks Josh'95Z28conv) but if you turned it 180 deg. it is a pretty close example of what I had. Meaning that the 7.1 seemed a bit long.

I tried to adjust to 7.05 but I couldn't get the pushrod to a zero lash that I felt confident in due to the lock nut bottoming out prior to zero lash.
I'm going to upgrade to CC promags due to a clearancing issue that I'm having with my current rockers and head studs to help fix that issue.
Any suggestions regarding what has been run successfully.

Each of these setups are unique, and you seem to be on the right track. If you still have room under the rocker when the lock nut bottoms, get a longer lock nut. You can have the studs shaved also.
