Pushed the piston on the IAC, now what?
When I was cleaning my throttle body and IAC, I got curious and of course pushed the piston on the IAC in maybe a millimeter or two and then it wouldnt move anymore. Since then the car fires up and then the idle immediately drops down, like a carbed motor with a poorly set choke. However, it does not stall. I just did a search and found out I was NOT supposed to mess with that plunger, cause it misaligns the IAC. SO, my question is, now what? Buying a new one is not an option.
Unfortuante
I had the same problem with on my 85TA with TPI, same idea kinda, take the car for a spin, get the car to about 40mph and just cruise for a second the IAC should readjust its self properly assuming its not all fubared. Mine did the same thing yours is doing and that fixed my problem. By the way it also says to do that in the directions of a new IAC.
You can try this reset procedure. It may work for you.
-Depress accelerator slightly
-Start engine, then release accelerator pedal, run engine for 5 seconds
-Turn ignition "OFF" for ten seconds
-Restart engine and check for proper idle operation

Thanks guys. Its 3 am and the keg is getting light, guess I will wait to try and reset it until the morning. Open cutout in the garage beneth the sleeping giant (mom) might not be the best idea right now.
