pushbutton start

so i've searched around here and on ls1.com about the pushbutton start mod..i'm sure you've all ready the threads about the s2000 switch mod..anyway i'm thinking this will be part of the mods i have planned while my car is stowed for the winter. my questions are: has anyone done this to a pre 98 f-body? are the wires the same..my chilton book isnt entirely clear with its wiring diagrams. also i have a viper alarm on my car that has starter kill..will installing this switch interfere with my alarm or vice versa? if anyones done this to a pre 98 i'd love any info or tips on it.

Haven't read about it, but what's the point to having it? I owned a couple of old trucks that had the starter button on the floor. One even had a mechanical pedal instead of a solenoid.

Assuming that all you're doing is changing the connection point for the starter wires, your alarm and all that shouldn't be affected provided that it's hooked up right...but that's just MHO as I've never looked into it.

push button will work but you gotta have your key in...which kinda defeats the purpose IMO...

I wireed mine directly to the starter solonoid. I have was having problems starting my car. When I tried to turn the key over the car acted like the battery was dead or almost dying which it was not. I checked ever connection, replaced starter nothing helped unless i did the screw driver start so i just hard wired it in. I simply put the key in ignition then push the starter button. A lot of people say its cool but dont really like having to have to push that button every time. but it does come useful when i dont have a key and all i want to do is turn over the motor for some project.
