Arrow Purpose of Bucket in tank

Not the one the fuel pump is in, but the yellow one in the back of the tank. What exactly is it in there for? I have a few debris (no rust) in my tank, but the only way to get to it to clean it out appears to be getting this little bucket out of the way. It doesn't have to come out of the tank (although it would be nice) but it does need to move. I don't wanna get my shiney new fuel pump in the car, only to have it die on me tomorrow .

Also, besides the 2 tabs holding it in, is there anything else that holds it in place? It feels held in more securely than by just 2 tabs, but I can tell what else is there. Not to mention I just cut the **** outta my hand fooling with it .

Well hell, an expected monsoon has put my project on hold .

I do think I'm a smart bastard though. I went out and bought about 3 feet of rubber hose. I think what i'm going to do is siphon what little gas i have left and seafoam the empty tank. I figure thats better than nothing

I cleaned my gas tank with water, vacuumed the excess, and then let it dry overnight. I believe the baffles in the gas tank are to reduce fuel pump starving issues. Racetronix would know for sure.

Thats the only thing I can think of. I'm going to siphon all of the gas out, seafoam it, and wash it out then siphon anything left.

Seafoam is good stuff.

The only thing that I can think off is that they are anti-slosh baffles.
