Pulling the VIN off of my block

Good evening,

I just found an LT1 on craigslist and am going back today to preform a compression test on it to see if it's still a good engine. The owner tells me that it came out of a 1993 Z28 and has a 700r4 attached to it. The car supposedly had only 19k on it when it was totaled, and I would love to verify that by running the vin, but I only have the partial from the engine

The vin is rather rusty (because of the iron block) and a bit hard to make out. I will post pictures tonight, but this is what I've gotten from it so far:

1R2165364

I have no idea how to get the rest of the vin other than to run ever possible combination of coupe, convertible, etc. Please let me know if you guys might have some any advice for me?!

Go to Shoebox's site. He has a photo showing how to decode the PARTIAL VIN that is stamped on the back of the block and the front of the trans.

Re: Pulling the VIN off of my block

Thank you for the response. Turns out I'm not gonna be getting this engine regardless - Engine had 60 PSI in 2 cylinders, 0 in the third, and 125 in the 4th.. just stopped testing when I saw that.
