pulling the motor from the top

I know how incredibly simple this question may sound, but i just want to make sure i do everything right. When you guys pull the motor out the top, where do you put the bolts to use the engine hoist?? I can just envision me threading into a bolt hole that isn't very well supported, and snapping the bolt or having something randomly explode.

i owe you guys,
trav

TPIS sells a engine pulling bracket called the Happy Hooker. It mounts to the top of the intake manifold (so you don't have to remove the intake). It sells for around $40. I've used it several times and like the fact that you can mount the intake with the engine on an engine stand (easier to seal the intake).

I had to carry the motor after it was out, so I pulled the top end off and put the bolts in where the heads bolt down to, it worked well, I think I'm buyin the TPIS piece or making one to install the motor though

I took the intake off and got myself some more clearance and a decent place to mount a chain, if you take the motor mounts off its a hell of a lot easier, and dont forget that clutch fork.
