pulling the motor.
pulling the motor.
I have done a few searches and have found only 2 walk throughs for taking the motor out. I have a blown head gasket, but with a 125K on the motor I want to take it out and have a look see at the block as well so I am just gonna pull the whole motor.
But I would like to see some web sites from those who have done this, through the top or out the bottom it doesn't matter to me only which one is easier. I am thinking about out the bottom because I would like to add LT headers at this time.
Any help with links...........
Brian

doesnt seem very time efficient to me! not to mention that you have to lift the car up pretty high to get the engine out from under it!just pull the tranny and get yourself a happy hooker and your life will be soo much easier! i can pull my engine out COMPLETLY, BY MYSELF in 2hrs and 42 min that includes removing the tranny (M6)
i timed it last time i did it... its all about the happy hooker
go to www.tpis.com click on tpis catalog, the click on tools and test equipment, then click on engine hoist accessories

That's gotta be easier than disassembling/assembling it in the car. There are pros and cons to each way. It's just a matter of preference.
how does that happy hooker work? 40 bucks? what is it exactly and how do you use it to make it easier to pull the motor? for 40 bucks and you can pull the motor in 3 hours thats a good deal there!

What it does is allows you to maneuver the angle at which the engine comes out.

AFAIK, you mount it on the top of the intake manifold. Probably using the fuel rail bolts.

I took it out through the bottom myself and I'm pretty sure I'll put it back in myself as well. Probably the only time I might need help is for someone to hold the wheels straight and put the shock bolts in while I'm raising the cradle, but other than that, it can be done without a problem.
