pulley - airpump, problem????

I heard the pulley in our cars turn the air pump, so if i get a performance pulley, and my air pump starts spinning slower, would that make me lose power??? and is that bad for the car???

what other things does the main pulley spin?? and what are the consequences of slowing those down?

The AIR pump is electric and the waterpump is turned by the cam.
The alternator, power steering pump, and A/C are turned by the crank pulley.

The AIR pump isnt effected by pulleys. Many people remove theirs to clear space as it is useless unless you have emissions testing. Mine's gone as soon as i get my Jet Hot LT's. The water pump is cam driven meaning no pulley. Neither of those two things have anything to do with the belt and pulleys and are separate. The pulleys are the crank, alt, pwr strng, and a/c . The only consequence of slowing the accessories is some people have charging issues with the alternator pulley. So for the water pump and AIR...you wont lose any hp.

so with these pulleys are there any that act as a harmonic balancer as well???? cause i would like a direct swap, but don't wanna reduce my engines life span... could any of you name some pulleys that act as harmonic balancers too, anbd gimme some URL's that have them for a good deal, thnx!

There are some pulleys that are like the stock damper, but smaller. Some get sandwiched between the stock damper and the crank hub. IMHO they are not worth the gain. If you have to put a bigger alternator pulley on to compensate for charging loss, it takes away from the original goal. Like said, not worth it, some may disagree.
Run a search, maybe you'll find where to buy.

Here's a dyno test on an underdrive pulley.

That would be SMALLER to compensate for charging loss ..
[Bigger pulley on the alternator would run it slower..]
FWIW I have a march 20% UD damper[not sold anymore tho and no change in alt pulley]
Works fine for me.. just drops the volts slightly, at idle, in gear [A4] no charging problems ... been on for a year..
Gain? Too small for SOP but obviously a little..
Saves PS pump, etc. a bit, also..
