LT1 Based Engine Tech 1993-1997 LT1/LT4 Engine Related

Pulled the distributer without marking anything on my 95 S10 TBI!!! HELP...

Pulled the distributer without marking anything on my 95 S10 TBI!!! HELP...

WEll i decided to change the distributer on my 95 TBI...well i just pulled the sucker out witout marking anything!!! how do i put it back in the right way?? Oh yeah, how would i go about advancing timming about 4+..is it even possible on 95s? Please give me detailed directions as i am new to these engines.

Take out the #1 spark plug. Hold your thumb over the hole. Have someone crank it until you feel pressure coming out of the hole. Put a socket on the bolt at the front of the crank and turn the engine clockwise until the pointer lines up with the groove in the damper. Put the distributor back in so that the rotor points at the #1 cylinder. This gets the timing in the general vicinity.

To set the timing, be sure to disconnect any electric or vacuum advance and then use a timing light to adjust timing. Tighten the bolt at the base of the distributor.
