Pulled the alternator, can I bridge the wires?

Going out of town for a week, a friend needed to borrow my alternator while he gets his rebuilt. Of course without the alternator the circuit is broken and my alarm wont arm. Can I just temp rig a wire to connect the battery (+) wire to the plug-in connector at the bottom of the alternator? IE just want to complete the circuit so my alarm will be on while I'm out of town. thanks

I don't see how taking the alt off is going to affect the alarm ( I admit I know nothing about alarms). The alt is bridged into the power system, not connected in series. The small wire is the "exciter" circuit that turns on the voltage regulator in the alt. I would not hook those two wires together.

BTW, insulate that big red wire so it touches nothing while it is off the alt.

You have no power at all? I don't see how that is possible. Are you sure you did not remove one of the battery cables when you were removing the alt and forgot to put it back on?
You only removed the wire to the back of the alt and no others?

The big wire to the alt is three wayed on the positive battery cable at the battery. Of the two other cables, one goes to the starter and the other to the + block on the RH shock tower.
