Pros and Cons of gapless rings (ZGS)
Re: Pros and Cons of gapless rings (ZGS)
Got experience with Total Seal gap less top and C&A gap less second.
A gap less second don't work well in a race engine because if ANY compression gets by the first the gap less second will hold it in and unseat the top ring. This is why knowledgeable builders today put more gap in the second ring.
I have had no complaint's with the Total Seal gap less top.My theory is once it gets by the top ring you are done.
Don't know about other's may have been installation error or machining error. Along with advice from Total Seal I have found what works.

will the cast( or iron)rings ,if I use them for top and second, be hard on the cyl walls ? this is going to be a street car so I would like some performance , but need be reliable.

I did a little reading on total seal, and all their ring packs except for the race set use gapless second rather than primary... Why do they recomend the ZGS for the street if the primary has all the advantages and no weaknesses?
